Mothers strive to find balance, restoration and peace after having a baby.
Placenta encapsulation is one way to balance energy and hormones, assisting with a woman's transition into motherhood.
What is placenta encapsulation?
Placenta encapsulation is the process of preparing, processing and placing dried, ground placenta into capsules for the mother to ingest, with the intention of restoring balance and healing in her postpartum body.
Placenta encapsulation has become very desirable as women have become aware of postpartum benefits and as research increasingly supports doing so.
Our clients have reported:
- increased breast milk supply
- reduced postpartum bleeding
- increased energy (and increased iron levels)
- easier recovery from childbirth
- less "baby blues"
Rest assured that your placenta has been prepared and encapsulated in a manner exceeding industry standards.
When a certified Prodoula Postpartum Placenta Specialist provides placenta encapsulation services, clients will benefit from:
- Complete confidence of the placenta's origin and storage
- Postpartum doula in the home to answer questions
- Sparkling clean kitchen
- Traditional Chinese style of preparation
- Bringing the body into balance with your own hormones (tincture may last for many years!)
- A trained and certified Postpartum Placenta Specialist who maintains OSHA and World Health Organization standards for this process, including training in Blood Borne Pathogen prevention.
Because there are no labs and no professional kitchens in Brevard County accessible for placenta encapsulation, your placenta will be prepared discreetly and safely in your home to ensure the highest level of safety and transparency in the process.
(These are the same standards held by professional caterers and upheld by Food Handling Guidelines. According to the Florida Department of Health, it is impossible to be licensed to hold food operations in the business' own home.)
By reserving placenta services before your baby is born, you will ensure time to complete necessary paperwork, receive your travel kit, and receive priority scheduling.
Your Postpartum Placenta Encapsulation Specialist is available via phone or email to meet, deliver your travel kit, and to offer labor/postpartum tips and tricks.
What is a placenta tincture?
A tincture is a long lasting extract (similar to vanilla extract, but with placenta) to continue the benefits once you have finished the last of your capsules.
Will I taste the placenta?
Most clients report that the capsules are flavorless and easily swallowed. It is recommended to take them with orange juice to enhance their absorption.
Will I smell placenta in my home?
Most clients have remarked that they smell only ginger and lemon, which are only placed in the steaming water (not in the capsules). For clients who are allergic or intolerant to ginger or lemon, we will not include those ingredients in the water.
